Retrocrural Space

The retrocrural space rcs is a small triangular region within the most inferior posterior mediastinum bordered by the two diaphragmatic crura. It is seen as a saccular area of dilatation in the lymphatic channels that are located in the retrocrural space usually to the immediate right of the origin of the abdominal aorta. The retrocrural space is one small region of triangular morphology in posterior mediastinum.
